Texas Flat Mitigation Bank
The 1,985-acre Texas Flat Mitigation Bank was approved by USACE Mobile District in 2013. The bank comprises over 6 miles of streams and over 1,700 acres of wet pine flats and bottomland hardwood forests with both stream and wetland credits available for purchase. The mitigation bank is a former pine plantation that has been under active timber management since the 1930s. The wetland areas and streams were significantly impacted by silviculture, including bedding to modify surface hydrology and soils.
Cypress developed the Prospectus and Mitigation Bank Instrument for this site, along with all included studies and plans, including:
- Wetland delineation
- Threatened/endangered species study
- Habitat mapping
- Stream mapping
- Ecological function assessments of wetlands
- Stream assessments
- Development of restoration success criteria
- Development of baseline ecological site profile
