Green infrastructure is stormwater design that uses soil, plants, and permeable surfaces instead of sending every gallon to a pipe. Bioswales, constructed wetlands, rain gardens, permeable pavement, and the grading that makes them work.
On the Gulf Coast that is not a roof-garden brochure. It is how a port road, a park, or a pad keeps sediment out of the Sound and does not flood the neighbor.
Where we use it
- Roadside swales and stormwater parks (see East Pier at the Port of Gulfport)
- Site pads that still have to meet NPDES and local post-construction rules
- Living-shoreline and marsh edges when they are also the stormwater edge
